DESCRIPTION

The 900-366 Guardian Patient Protector with 900-367 seat switch is designed for institution or home to alert caregiver if patient attempts to exit wheelchair.  Simply place the water proof pressure switch in wheel chair bottom, insert the 1/4 inch plug into sensor position on patient protector and the system is ready to operate.

The Guardian Patient Protector can also be used in conjunction with an existing nurse call system by plugging in optional 900-808 adapter cable to room station.

GENERAL OPERATION

Removal of pressure from the seat switch or disconnecting seat switch from patient protector will activate sounder until reset by caregiver.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Replace battery immediately if sounder cherps every 45 seconds when in the alarm position.  To replace battery remove four screws on back of Patient Protector and replace with standard 9V battery.


OPERATION FOR MOVEMENT MANAGEMENT

1.Attach Guardian Patient Protector to back of wheelchair with snap clip.
2.Place seat switch in bottom of wheelchair with cable toward back of chair.  Position switch toward middle of chair so majority of patients weight will be toward center of switch.  Place cushion or Incontinence pad over switch if desired.
3.Connect seat switch to patient protector by inserting 1/4 inch phone plug into jack marked sensor.
4.With patient in chair press activation switch located on side of patient protector to the on position.  A double beep should be heard to acknowledge the unit is set in alarm condition.
5.When the patients weight begins to shift off the chair, the alarm will be activated and will continue until reset by caregiver.


OPERATION FOR SYSTEM ALARM

1.  Plug optional 900-808 system cord into jack marked "SYSTEM".
2.  Plug other end of 900-808 cord into existing nurse call room station.

1.The equipment described shall be fabricated and assembled entirely in the United States of America.

2.A mechanically locking push-push type switch is provided for placing an emergency call by gently pressing the switch inward until it locks.

3.The call switch and LED assembly is electrically isolated from the face plate.

4.A separate call assurance LED is part of the station so that when the switch is activated the LED will flash. The call then can only be cancelled by pressing the switch again, then releasing.
5.The call assurance lamp shall be a blue LED.

6.The lamp is accessible from the front without special tools or removing the face plate.

7.The location of the station shall be as indicated on the plans ________ inches above the finished floor.

8.The station shall conform to Underwriters' Laboratory, Inc. listed (U.L. 1069).
